Haydn in the Garden

Music begins at 7pm.

Join us for an evening of music and food in the gardens. Tarik’s North African cuisine will offer delicious dinner options 5-7pm and the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra musicians will delight you with a progressive concert beginning at 7pm that moves through multiple garden spaces. This event is free and open to the public. Please bring your own chairs/blanket for picnicking and enjoying the music. Labor Day Sunflower Project

The Labor Day Sunflower Project is a celebration of collective work, bringing together the individual efforts of many for the enjoyment of all. Bring your native, domesticated, cultivar, nativar, sunflowers and sunflower seed heads to Knoxville Botanical Gardens & Arboretum on Labor Day morning. Cut your flowers and seed heads with an 18 inch stem to help us as together we weave them into a massive circle of flowers representing the beauty created by our collective labor. There will be live music, food, lots of flowers, friends, neighbors, and a uniquely Knoxville art installation to create.

Natural Indigo Dyeing

Join Riley Douglas of the Museum of Infinite Outcomes at Knoxville Botanical Garden for an all-inclusive natural dyeing class. Participants will focus on the learning process of indigo dye using salt and the oxidation process of the plant itself. This class is excellent for beginners, dyers, or folks who want to dip into the history behind the hues of blues.
