This class is excellent for beginners, dyers, or folks who want to dip into the history behind the hues of blues. The course will last three hours, so prepare for all weather types. Please bring a bottle of water and some snacks. All students will leave with a hand-dyed silk scarf.
Riley’s practice delves into the history of Appalachian craft and building natural dye gardens. She is a Board Member of the Museum of Infinite Outcomes and a certified Master Gardener from The University of Tennessee, specializing in growing, harvesting, and manipulating dye plants. Riley’s personal and professional practices focus on a maker’s role in creating sustainable methodologies and lifestyles. Riley now works at Beardsley Farm as the Community Garden Manager and is passionate about connecting folks to the natural world through farming, plants, and education.

The cost of the workshop includes instruction & the following materials: one silk scarf, indigo and process supplies, gloves.
No previous experience is required.
Ages 16 and up are welcome. Participants under 18 years old must have an accompanying adult.
