The Pollinator Garden

The Pollinator Garden

The Pollinator garden is an oasis of nectar and pollen-rich plants. Designed for our native bees, insects, and animals that spread pollen and fertilize flowers and the food we eat. This 5,000 square foot pollinator garden features native milkweeds, bee balms, echinaceas, rudbeckias, and native grasses that provide the luscious nectar and habitat our pollinators crave. You will enjoy plants chosen to bloom at staggered times throughout the seasons and planted in mass so that our pollinators can forage without too much work. The plant heights are varied creating an extra layer of safety and shelter. Many of the plants you will see serve as host plants to the moths and butterflies we love, such as the Monarch, the Gulf fritillary, and the eastern and black swallowtails. The Pollinator serves as an educational classroom for our young visitors to Story Thyme. This garden is maintained by the Knox County master gardeners.
