The focus of the Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum’s Green Drinks Garden will be on the agriculture of spirits. The Green Drinks Garden will showcase plants that have been grown around the world to brew, distill, and infuse visitors’ favorite and less-familiar beverages. Attractive interpretive plant labels will provide information about the culture and history of each specimen.
As a feature of the Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum’s Center for Urban Agriculture, we hope the space can also be used to educate area farmers on the culture of plants to further support our region’s burgeoning local brewery, distillery, and winery economy.
In addition to the educational value, the Green Drinks Garden will be a beautiful feature that will attract a wide variety of visitors. Lovely spring blooms of fruit trees and bulbs, bold summer flowers of herbs, and delicate heads of grain in the fall will make this new garden the gem of the western side of our 47-acre property.
Stay tuned to our e-newsletter and social media for updates about fundraising events. We are partnering with Knoxville breweries, distilleries, and wineries to raise funds for this exciting new project. Our partners at PostModern Spirits are currently serving a Spanish Gin and Tonic with proceeds going toward the Green Drinks Garden. This fall, we are partnering with Knoxville breweries on a Botanical Brew that will be available on-tap and in cans. Stay tuned for more information!
