Tree Veneration: The Wreath and The Shiminawa

The final installment of our Tree Veneration series will be ‘The Wreath and the Shiminawa’.

An exploration into wreaths and the Japanese enclosed rope or ‘Shiminawa, this workshop will investigate the historical, cultural, and formal uses and symbolism embedded in these sculptural traditions. Participants will select a tree to venerate with a wreath or Shiminawa of their own making.

The class will be held 9-12 p.m. on Saturday, December 1st in our Dogwood Center located at 2817 Boyds Bridge Pike.
