Spring Ephemerals Flower: But Then What?
March 8 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
We all love our spring daffodils and other ephemeral flowering plants. Though rarely in our garden, these plants commonly go to seed in the wild: but then what?
The vast majority of our forest and woodland herbs produce seeds that are dispersed by ants. This seminar will showcase this critically important process and how it can be beneficial to the plants and ants that are involved. This seminar will be given by Dr. Charles Kwit. Dr. Kwit is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Forestry, Wildlife and Fisheries at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. His research involves the important roles animals play in seed dispersal processes in animal-mediated seed dispersal systems.
