May 11, 2013 -Saturday- 10am – 2pm Learn: Introduction to Worm Composting Leader: Wendy Prothro-Howard, ECO Program Location: ECO Garden Program Shed Come play with worms and enjoy learning about how worms eat your garbage and how they create great compost for your garden. Not only will you learn all about the benefits of worm composting, but you will make a portable worm bin to take home for your composting pleasure! All ages are welcome to this event. We have established bins where all interested and eager attendees can dig for worms, observe worms, and feed the worms while the others cooperate with building new ones. For very young children, the story Wiggly Worms at Work will be read by one of the ECO garden staff. After digging for and observing some worms in action these young vermicomposters will create a craft about worms. We look forward to wiggling around with you! Visit knoxgarden.org or facebook.com/pages/Knoxville-Botanical-Garden-Arboretum for more information or join the ECO Garden team on facebook at ECOYouthGardenKBGA! Cost: $15 members / $20 non-members (children free with parents’ reservation) Pre-registration is required. Hands on class. Bring your gloves! |
