Bee Educated: Beekeeping Essentials

August 26, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Do you find honey tasty? What about fruits and vegetables? If you enjoy a stroll through a lovely garden, and can appreciate fresh cuisine then this workshop pertains to you! The world would be an entirely different place without bees, and it is easy to take their hard work for granted. Come join Ashley Reeve from the Knox County Beekeepers Association as we learn more about why bees need our help and how we can support them. You will come away with greater knowledge of beekeeping equipment, safety, bee anatomy and physiology, and care.

Ashley Reeve has been a gardener the majority of her life, and beekeeping seemed, to her, like a natural extension of that interest. Along with her husband, Ashley manages fourteen beehives in two separate apiaries since beginning beekeeping four years ago. On top of first-hand experience, UT Extension courses and numerous seminars and conferences have shaped her knowledge of beekeeping.  Ashley is also an active member in the beekeeping community and is Secretary of KCBA. She says she got into beekeeping for the puns, so bee excited!
